I am now in the final stages of writing this essay. I had 3 different people go over my essay and I thought it was as perfect as could be. Boy was I wrong. I had the ISL look over and analyze it and did not realize how many “insignificant” mistakes I make over the entire paper. These little mistakes here and there made my paper look like someone had a nose bleed over my paper. Meaning, there was way to much red ink for my liking. Hopefully, I can learn from those oversights and can use the tools I’ve learn and have an effortless essay the next time.
You never really notice that those little mistakes make such a HUGE difference between a great paper and an OK paper. The improvements have made the essay easier to read. It isn’t so clunky or confusing. The took out any sentences that were redundant and that just didn’t belong. I feel like I had this dirty shirt that I washed to the best of my abilities, and when I took it to the professional cleaners they showed me how much deep down stains there really was. Now that my “shirt” is professionally “clean” of any stains, I do believe I’m ready to turn it in.
I’m nervous and anxious about the potential grade I will receive. It’s difficult when you spend so much time and effort on something, just to have it critiqued by the best of the best. You can’t get any better constructive criticism than from a college professor. Her grade will influence your future as well as telling you how well your writing really is. You can always improve with the comments she gives you, and yet it feels like a disappointment in yourself for not seeing the paper through her eyes.
Take my advice! Go see the tutors and instructors at the ISL. They are phenomenal! They are there to “clean” up whatever you need. This is a free benefit that AUM provides and it is a necessity if you want to pass with an amazing grade. Good luck!
